In Bengaluru, Karnataka, fire department officials have commenced restoration work at the site of a collapsed building in the Huramavu Agara area. The tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday, resulted in the loss of eight lives.

Restoration Efforts

Heavy machinery has been deployed to clear the rubble and concrete from the site. The restoration work is being carried out diligently to ensure safety and prevent further incidents.

Government Response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced financial aid for the victims’ families. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the families of the deceased, and Rs 50,000 to those injured.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Harman (26), Tripal (35), Mohd Sahil (19), Sathya Raju (25), and Shankar. The injured, including Jagadevi (45) and Rasheed (28), are receiving treatment at local hospitals.

Legal Actions

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has vowed to take strict action against those responsible for the illegal construction. An FIR has been registered against Munirajareddy, Mohan Reddy, and Elumalai. Bhuvan Reddy and contractor Muniyappa have been arrested and face charges under various laws.
