BSF Stops Smuggling at Meghalaya Border
The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya, India, successfully stopped a major smuggling attempt along the international border. On Wednesday, BSF troops from the 4th Battalion conducted special operations to prevent cross-border smuggling. They rescued 27 cattle hidden in a jungle near the border, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The cattle were handed over to PPP Muktapur, a police-public initiative for border safety.
Seizure of Contraband Items
During the operations, BSF intercepted a pick-up vehicle with the number “ML-05-AC” carrying cosmetic items without valid documents in the East Khasi Hills district. Additionally, they seized a large quantity of eatable items and liquor in other border operations.
Previous Operations
On October 22, BSF troops from the 193rd Battalion intercepted a Bolero pick-up and seized cosmetic items worth over Rs.4 lakh near the East Khasi Hills border. In another operation, 27 cattle worth Rs.2,85,400 were rescued while being smuggled to Bangladesh through the West Jaintia Hills district.
