BSF Captures Five Bangladeshi Nationals in Meghalaya

In West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals. These individuals were traveling in an auto rickshaw from Dalu towards Purakhasia when they were spotted by a BSF patrol on October 2. Upon noticing the patrol, the suspects attempted to flee but were quickly caught by the BSF troops.

According to the BSF Meghalaya Frontier PRO, the apprehended individuals had traveled from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where they were employed in a garment factory. Their intention was to illegally cross the border into Bangladesh. Following their capture, they were handed over to the Dalu Police Station in West Garo Hills district.

In a related incident, on October 1, Assam police detained fourteen illegal Bangladeshi nationals in the South Salmara and Karimganj districts. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that nine of these individuals were found with Indian Aadhaar cards. He emphasized the increased vigilance due to unrest in Bangladesh, which has led to the capture of 108 illegal infiltrators this year. The BSF has been actively preventing infiltration attempts, successfully thwarting major efforts.
