On November 4, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Meghalaya police successfully apprehended 11 Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter India illegally. The operation took place at the international border in South West Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills.

Details of the Operation

Based on a specific tip-off, BSF Meghalaya and local police captured seven Bangladeshi nationals near Baldamgiri Tinali in South West Garo Hills. The individuals were identified as Amir Ali, Mir Jahan, Biplob Mia, Angur Hussain, Chand Mia, Rasel Mia, and MD Bakul Mia, all from Kurigram District, Bangladesh.

Additional Arrests

In a separate incident, the 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian nationals near Dawki in East Khasi Hills. The individuals included Shorobindu Biswas, Royal Talukder, Rony Lamin, Kausalla Talukdar, Shankhor Saha, Ronbir Saha, and Suna Lyngdoh. A vehicle arranged by a Bangladeshi tout was also seized.

Motives Behind the Infiltration

During the inquiry, it was revealed that the Bangladeshi nationals were seeking employment in Assam, while the Indian nationals had visited Bangladesh to meet relatives. The operation highlights the vigilance of the BSF and Meghalaya police in securing the border.
