Bomb Threat on Indian Airlines Flight from Kathmandu to New Delhi
A bomb threat was reported on an Indian Airlines flight scheduled to depart from Kathmandu to New Delhi. Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) confirmed the threat, prompting a search operation with the help of Nepal Police and Army. Dambar Bahadur BK, Chief of Police at the airport, stated that the search is ongoing.
Earlier in the week, a similar bomb hoax was reported on an Air India flight AI 216, which had landed at Tribhuvan International Airport. The threat led to the activation of emergency protocols, but no explosives were found after a thorough search by the Nepal Army bomb squad and the Nepal Police Canine division. Kiran Bajracharya, AIG at Valley Police Office, confirmed that the plane was cleared to take off after the search.
This incident marks the second hoax call received by Tribhuvan International Airport within a week. Gyanendra Bhul, Information Officer at CAAN, and Brigadier General Gaurav Kumar KC of the Nepal Army confirmed that no suspicious objects were found during the searches. Last week, a similar scare occurred on a Vistara Airways flight from Delhi, but it was also a false alarm.
These repeated false threats have been causing concern among passengers traveling on Indian flights.
