BJP’s Shehzad Poonawalla Criticizes AAP Over Delhi Pollution and River Yamuna

In New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the high pollution levels in the city and the River Yamuna. He accused AAP of being dishonest and having an ‘anti-Sanatan’ mindset. Poonawalla claimed that AAP blames others for pollution, shifting from Punjab to UP and Haryana, and even joked about blaming the Israel-Lebanon war.

Poonawalla highlighted that Arvind Kejriwal had promised to clean the Yamuna by 2025, but now blames UP for its pollution. He noted that the stretch between Okhla and Wazirabad is heavily polluted, and sewage treatment plants are ineffective. He expressed concern over the health risks during Chhath Puja due to toxic foam in the river.

Delhi’s air quality was ‘very poor’ with an AQI of 358, posing health risks. The Supreme Court questioned the Delhi government on the ineffective firecracker ban during Diwali, asking for an affidavit on pollution control measures. Additional Solicitor General Archana Pathak Dave reported a significant rise in pollution during Diwali.
