BJP’s 7-Member Team Meets to Discuss Waqf Bill with Muslim Community

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is taking steps to engage with the Muslim community about the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. A seven-member team, formed on August 31, held its first meeting at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Meeting Details

During the meeting, the team prepared a plan to reach out to the Muslim community, seeking their suggestions and clearing up any misconceptions about the bill. The meeting was attended by:

Objectives

The team will explain why properties are given to Waqf and how they are being misused, emphasizing the need for amendments. They will engage with Waqf Board leaders and the Muslim community across various states to gather feedback and clear misconceptions.

BL Santosh has encouraged the team to seek suggestions from as many people as possible to ensure the community does not feel the Waqf Board will work against them. The team will soon meet with the Joint Parliamentary Committee Chairman Jagdambika Pal to present their findings and suggestions.
