During a press conference, she highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's disappointment that senior citizens in West Bengal and Delhi cannot benefit from the Ayushman Bharat scheme due to political reasons.
The Ayushman Bharat Yojana, launched in 2018, aims to provide free health insurance to low-income families. However, it has not been implemented in Delhi and West Bengal. PM Modi expressed regret that political interests have blocked its implementation, affecting elderly citizens in these regions.
In response, Arvind Kejriwal defended Delhi's healthcare model, claiming it surpasses the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He urged PM Modi to study and adopt Delhi's model nationwide. Bansuri Swaraj countered by accusing the Delhi government of failing to improve hospital infrastructure and committing a medicine procurement scam.
PM Modi, speaking at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, apologized to elderly citizens in Delhi and West Bengal for the lack of Ayushman Bharat benefits, attributing it to the political stance of their governments.
