The BJP Mahila Morcha, led by its national president Vanathi Srinivasan, organized a silent candle march in Kolkata to protest the rape and murder of a junior doctor. The march took place outside RG Kar Medical College.

Alongside Vanathi Srinivasan, national office bearers of Mahila Morcha and Rajya Sabha MPs Darshan Singh, Sangeeta Yadav, Geeta Shakya, Indu Bala Coswami, and West Bengal in-charge Pooja Kapil Mishra participated in the march.

Vanathi Srinivasan expressed her sadness and outrage, stating, “It is the misfortune of West Bengal that despite having a woman Chief Minister, the sisters and daughters of the state are not safe.” She criticized the state government for allegedly trying to deny the incident and erase evidence.

She added, “The TMC government has become an anti-women government for whom power is paramount. We demand that the family of the female doctor should get justice and that the sisters and daughters of West Bengal should be safe.”
