BJP Launches Cultural Campaign in Behali, Assam for Bye-Election
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has kicked off its election campaign for the upcoming bye-election in the Behali assembly constituency, located in Assam’s Biswanath district. The campaign began on the 13th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, with BJP workers and supporters engaging in cultural activities during a rally in Behali.
Cultural Activities Highlight Campaign
The campaign featured performances by a cultural troupe, marking a unique approach to electioneering. Ranjit Dutta, a BJP Member of Parliament, emphasized the diverse community in Behali, which includes Assamese, Adivasi, Mising, Karbi, and Bodo people. He noted that peace has been restored in the area since the BJP came to power, replacing a period of unrest during the Congress regime.

Union Minister Pabitra Margherita also attended the event, showing support for the campaign. Dutta expressed confidence in the BJP’s candidate, Diganta Ghatowar, predicting a win in the bye-election. The BJP plans to continue its campaign with the Sur Bahini cultural troupe, formed by BJP MLA Padma Hazarika.

The by-elections in Assam, including Behali, Dholai, Samaguri, Bongaigaon, and Sidli, are scheduled for November 13. Both BJP and Congress are intensifying their campaigns. These by-polls are part of a larger election process involving 48 constituencies across 15 states, as announced by the Election Commission of India on October 15.
