Bihar DGP Alok Raj Addresses Tragic Spurious Liquor Deaths in Siwan and Saran

In a tragic incident in Bihar, 25 people have died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Siwan and Saran. Bihar’s Director General of Police, Alok Raj, announced that 12 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those involved in the ‘liquor mafia’ network.

Following the incident, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high-level review meeting. The Chief Minister directed the Secretary of the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department to conduct a thorough investigation. Saran Superintendent of Police, Kumar Ashish, revealed that the substance involved appears to be industrial spirit, and investigations into its supply chain are ongoing.

Local police officers have been suspended, and a Special Investigation Team has been formed. In the last 24 hours, 250 raids were conducted, recovering 1,650 litres of alcohol. Saran District Magistrate, Aman Samir, stated that families of the deceased must pledge support for the state’s liquor ban to receive compensation.
