Bangladeshi Woman Khadija Begum Arrested for Human Trafficking in Tripura
A 36-year-old Bangladeshi woman named Khadija Begum was arrested in Tripura’s Charipara area for her alleged involvement in human trafficking. The arrest was made by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF) Unit 42 and Amtali Police Station.
Authorities acted on a tip-off and detained Khadija Begum. She is scheduled to be presented before the honourable Agartala court for further legal proceedings.
Earlier, on Thursday, local law enforcement agencies and the BSF conducted a joint operation at Agartala Railway Station. They arrested ten individuals, including eight Bangladeshi nationals, for suspected illegal activities related to cross-border human trafficking. The individuals were intercepted as they were preparing to board a train, allegedly for illegal movement across the India-Bangladesh border.
The arrested individuals are currently held in custody at the local police station for further questioning. Authorities are coordinating with Bangladeshi officials to ascertain the full details of the case and potentially repatriate the Bangladeshi nationals.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by security forces to curb illegal cross-border activities and human trafficking in the region.
