Bangladesh Aims for Victory in Test Series Against India, Says Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto
Dhaka [Bangladesh], September 15: Ahead of the two-match Test series against India, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed his team’s desire to win both matches. The series will begin on September 19 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Bangladesh is in top form, having recently whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 in their first Test series win on Pakistani soil. Shanto acknowledged the challenge of facing India but noted the team’s extra confidence from their recent success.
“It will be a challenging series but we have the extra confidence from the Pakistan series. I guess the whole country has that confidence now. Every series is an opportunity. We want to win both Tests, but we have to stick to our process. If we do our job, we can get a good result,” Shanto said.
Shanto also discussed their goals for the tour of India, emphasizing the importance of playing well for all five days of each Test. He highlighted the strength of Bangladesh’s bowling attack, both spin and pace, and expressed confidence in their ability to perform in any conditions.
The second Test will be held in Kanpur from September 27. India currently leads the World Test Championship standings with a point percentage of 68.52. The Indian squad includes notable players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah, while the Bangladesh squad features Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim.
