Indian rower Balraj Panwar delivered an impressive performance to qualify for the quarter-finals in men’s single sculls at the Paris Olympics. Balraj, who is from Haryana, finished second in the repechages with a time of 7:12.41s, just behind Monaco’s Quentin who clocked 7:10.00s. Indonesian rower La Memo came in third with a time of 7:19.60s.

On the opening day, Balraj had a chance to secure his spot in the quarter-finals but had a shaky start. He finished fourth in his heat with a time of 7:07.11s. Only the top three from each heat could advance directly to the quarter-finals. New Zealand’s Thomas Mackintosh, Greece’s Stefanos Ntouskos, and Egypt’s Abdelkhalek El-Banna took the top three spots in Balraj’s heat.
