In Islamabad, Pakistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee has expressed serious concerns about the increasing enforced disappearances of Baloch youth. The committee reported that more than half a dozen young Baloch individuals have been forcibly taken by security forces, including the Frontier Corps (FC) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), in recent days.

Details of the Disappeared

The committee shared specific details about the individuals who have disappeared. Shabbir Ahmed, Aftab Ahmed, and Rashid Ali, all cousins, were abducted from Sakran Road on September 29. Junaid Hameed was taken from Hub on October 8, and his brother Yasir Hameed was abducted from Kalat on October 11. Yasir had previously been abducted in 2022 and released. Imran was taken from Hub Chowki on October 9, and Bilal Imam, a Business Development Officer at Meezan Bank, was taken from his workplace on October 8.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee claims that the state targets Baloch youth vindictively after security failures, causing families to live in fear of fake encounters. The committee urges the Baloch nation to stand against these acts and resist to end enforced disappearances.
