In Quetta, Pakistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has expressed strong condemnation over the recent forced abductions and targeted executions of Baloch youth. This alarming trend is seen as a continuation of the ongoing genocide and human rights violations in Balochistan.
Recent Abductions
On December 9, five Baloch individuals were abducted by Pakistani security forces in Maskan Chorangai, Karachi. Among them was Meraj Shad, a politically active member of the National Democratic Party and a recent graduate in International Relations. The other victims included Doda Ellahi, a student previously abducted in 2022, Gamshad Baloch, an M.Phil student, Muzamil, a Philosophy student, and Ismail, a worker from Dubai.
BYC's Concerns and Demands
The BYC has raised urgent concerns about the systematic targeting of Baloch students and activists, who face risks of torture, extrajudicial killings, and fake encounters. The Committee has called for international intervention and demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the abducted individuals. They urge the Pakistani state to stop all forced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and political repression against the Baloch people.
