In Mumbai, Maharashtra, Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat met with Sharad Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to discuss seat-sharing for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. This meeting is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition’s preparations, which includes Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena (UBT). Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut mentioned that Thorat, after meeting Pawar, would proceed to Matoshree for further discussions with Uddhav Thackeray and other Shiv Sena leaders.

Meanwhile, the Central Election Committee of Congress, led by Mallikarjun Kharge, convened in Delhi to finalize candidates for the elections. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar stated that decisions on all 288 seats would be finalized by the evening. He noted that there were some issues in the Vidarbha region, but they would be resolved soon.

Ramesh Chennithala, Congress election in-charge for Maharashtra, dismissed rumors of disagreements within the MVA, affirming the alliance’s unity. Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition MVA are ramping up their election strategies. The BJP, part of the Mahayuti alliance, has already announced its list of 99 candidates.

The Maharashtra assembly elections will take place on November 20, with counting on November 23. In the previous elections, the BJP and Shiv Sena were the major winners, with Congress trailing behind.
