Ayodhya’s Special Deepotsav: Celebrating Diwali with Record-Breaking Diyas
In Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Acharya Satyendra Das, expressed joy over the upcoming Diwali festival. This year’s Deepotsav is unique as it follows the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla. Acharya Satyendra Das assured that all preparations are complete for devotees to have a smooth darshan experience.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has invited everyone to join the grand festival and witness a world record attempt of lighting over 25 lakh diyas. The event will also feature the largest aarti with over 1,100 participants at Saryu Ghat. Deepotsav, a five-day festival, celebrates Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, highlighting the city’s cultural and spiritual importance.
More than 30,000 volunteers will assist in the record attempt across 55 ghats, including New Ghat, Old Ghat, and Bhajan Sandhya. The event will be attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Culture and Tourism Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and other ministers. A 30-member team from the Guinness Book of World Records is present to oversee the preparations.
Nischal Barot, in charge of the Guinness team, noted that this is the seventh Deepotsav, but the first after the construction of the Ram Mandir, making it special. Two records are aimed: the largest Saryu Aarti and the lighting of 25 lakh diyas. Additionally, a Shobha Yatra will feature artists from six countries and 16 Indian states, with 18 tableaus. The government has also launched a virtual initiative, ‘Ek Diya Ram ke naam,’ through the Divya Ayodhya app.
