Australian High Commissioner Philip Green Leads Agtech Delegation to India
New Delhi, India – August 20: The Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, is leading a delegation of Australian agtech companies in India from August 20-23. The goal is to explore partnerships and innovation opportunities with Indian counterparts.
Four Decades of Partnership
Australia and India have been working together to boost agricultural productivity for over forty years. This visit marks a step up in that engagement.
Delegation’s Itinerary
The delegation, supported by the Australian Government’s Australia India Business Exchange program and Investment New South Wales, will visit Delhi, Noida, Lucknow, and Bengaluru. They will meet with government and industry bodies and visit farm sites.
Focus Areas
The delegation includes Australian agtech companies, universities, and investors from sectors like dairy, grains, horticulture, floriculture, and animal husbandry. In Lucknow, they will meet with representatives from the Uttar Pradesh government to explore strategic partnerships. The mission will conclude in Bengaluru with participation in Agri Tech India 2024, India’s largest agtech conference.
High Commissioner’s Statement
High Commissioner Green emphasized the importance of agriculture in the Australia-India relationship. He noted that Australian agtech companies are already active in India, offering solutions like technology to combat lumpy-skin disease in cows, organic fertilizers for better crop yields, and advanced grain storage systems.
Green also highlighted that both countries face similar challenges, particularly climate change. He believes that Australia’s world-leading agtech can help boost India’s agricultural productivity and exports.
