Assam Police Seize 80,000 Yaba Tablets in Karimganj
In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Assam Police seized 80,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 8 crore in the Karimganj district. Acting on credible intelligence, the police intercepted a vehicle at the Churaibari checkpoint on the Assam-Tripura border on October 8. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered eight packets of Yaba tablets hidden in the hood. Two individuals, Tinku Malakar and Sujit Deb from Tripura, were apprehended.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the operation on social media, highlighting the successful interception and seizure by the Karimganj police. Further investigations are ongoing.
Additional Seizures in Karimganj
On the following Monday, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and the police led to the seizure of 10,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 1 crore in the Badarpur police station area. One person, Dilwar Hussain Choudhary, was apprehended. Earlier, on October 6, police seized 1.5 kg of illegal drugs valued at Rs 3 crore in Karbi Anglong district, arresting two individuals.
