Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi Clash Over Flood Relief Efforts
On Monday, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika alleged that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi did not visit any flood relief camps or affected areas in Assam. Hazarika’s statement came after Congress MP KC Venugopal claimed that he and Gandhi met flood victims in Assam and Manipur.
Hazarika posted on X, urging the media to verify information before posting. He clarified that Rahul Gandhi had not visited any flood relief camps or affected areas in Assam.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi expressed sorrow over the flood situation in Assam, calling it heartbreaking. He urged the central government to provide assistance and criticized the BJP’s handling of the crisis. Gandhi highlighted the need for proper relief, rehabilitation, and a comprehensive water management authority to control floods in the long term.
KC Venugopal also criticized the state and central governments for not finding a lasting solution to the annual flood crisis in Assam and the ongoing issues in Manipur.
