What is the Orunodoi Scheme?

Orunodoi 3.0: What’s New?
The new version, Orunodoi 3.0, aims to transfer Rs 1,250 into the bank accounts of 37 lakh women, marking an increase from the previous Rs 1,000. The guidelines ensure that politically connected households are excluded and focus on identifying needy and marginalized beneficiaries.
Chief Minister’s Statement
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared on social media, “In 2020, Assam launched Orunodoi and became one of the first states to launch a cash transfer scheme exclusively for women. Since then, this scheme has been expanded. What’s best is that this has served as a model for many states to replicate such programs.”
He added, “Today, I chaired a meeting to review the guidelines ahead of the launch of Orunodoi 3.0, where we aim to transfer Rs 1,250 into the bank accounts of 37 lakh women. The new guidelines will aim to ensure most politically connected households remain outside the ambit of this scheme, an effective grievance redressal mechanism is in place, and bring robust measures to identify beneficiaries inclined towards the needy and marginalized.”
