Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Confident in BJP’s Jharkhand Election Prospects

Ranchi, Jharkhand – Assam Chief Minister and BJP’s Jharkhand assembly co-incharge, Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed confidence in the BJP forming the government in Jharkhand. Speaking to reporters, CM Sarma stated, “Our government will be formed here (in Jharkhand).”

He mentioned ongoing discussions about seat sharing, with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) contesting 10 seats, Janata Dal (United) 2 seats, and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) 1 seat. Adjustments may occur, but this is the current plan.

The Jharkhand assembly polls are scheduled in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting on November 23. The BJP has announced its first list of 66 candidates, including state chief Babulal Marandi from Dhanwar and other notable candidates.

BJP will contest alongside NDA allies AJSU, JDU, and LJP. AJSU will contest 10 seats, JDU 2 seats, and LJP 1 seat, while BJP will contest the remaining 68 seats.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced that the INDIA bloc, including Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress, will contest 70 of the 81 seats. Talks are ongoing with RJD and Left parties for the remaining seats.

In the 2019 elections, the UPA alliance, including JMM and Congress, won 47 seats, defeating BJP’s 25 seats.
