Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma Gives Jobs to 41 Youth in Education Department

In an effort to provide jobs to 1 lakh youth, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed appointment letters to 41 youth in the education department. The event was held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati.

Among the new appointees, 22 received compassionate appointments in the directorate of higher education, 11 were appointed as assistant professors, one as a librarian under the directorate of technical education, and seven as lecturers of DIET under SCERT. With these appointments, the total number of new jobs reached 97,495.

Dr Sarma stated, “Our promise of providing one lakh jobs to the youth is achieving new benchmarks with each passing day. The remaining 13,000 posts will be filled by April 2025.”

He also highlighted the importance of transparency and meritocracy in government jobs, which has fostered trust and belief in the state. The Chief Minister announced that another 1,000 youth would be absorbed into government jobs by August 15, and the target would be increased to 1.5 lakh jobs in five years.

Dr Sarma encouraged the new appointees to dedicate themselves to serving the people and contributing to the state’s growth. He also discussed the potential of startup ventures to create employment and stimulate state growth, urging new assistant professors to inspire students in this direction.

Several dignitaries, including Minister for Welfare of Tea Tribes and Labour Welfare Sanjoy Kishan, PHE Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, Power Minister Nandita Gorlosa, and Secretary Education Narayan Konwar, attended the event.
