New Delhi [India], August 19: Ashok Kumar Singh, an IAS officer from the 1999 Kerala cadre, has taken over as the Director General of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. The appointment took place at the ESIC headquarters in New Delhi on Monday.

Singh has a rich background in governance and management at both district and state levels. He previously served as the Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department in Kerala. At the central level, he has held roles such as Executive Director in the National Mission for Clean Ganga, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, and Director in the Ministry of Finance.

Singh is academically accomplished, holding an M. Phil from the National Defence College in New Delhi and a Mechanical Engineering degree from IIT Kanpur.
