Arvind Kejriwal Resigns as Delhi CM, Says He Has No Greed for Power
Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, announced his resignation on Sunday. He stated that he has no greed for the CM’s chair and joined politics for the betterment of the country.
Addressing ‘Janta ki Adalat’
Speaking at ‘Janta ki Adalat’ at Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal said, “I resigned because I did not come here to do corruption. I don’t have any greed for the CM’s chair. I came into politics for Bharat Mata, to change the country’s politics.”
He added, “These politicians do not care about allegations; they have thick skin. I am not a politician. I do care when the BJP calls me a thief or corrupt. Today I’m heartbroken, and that’s why I resigned.”
Living Simply
Kejriwal mentioned that he only ‘earned’ respect and does not even have a house of his own in Delhi. He plans to leave the CM’s bungalow and stay at the house of one of his supporters after the Shraadh period.
Criticism of BJP
Launching a scathing attack on BJP, Kejriwal said, “We were running the government honestly, making electricity and water free, and improving education. However, Modi ji started thinking that if he wanted to win against us, he would have to attack our honesty.”
He further asked the people if they think he is honest or not, questioning, “If I were dishonest, would I be able to give electricity for free? Would I be able to build schools?”
Questions for RSS
Kejriwal also questioned RSS, targeting PM Modi and BJP. He asked Mohan Bhagwat if it is correct for Modi to break parties and bring down governments using ED and CBI.
Call for Early Elections
Kejriwal announced his resignation after being released from Tihar jail on bail in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. He has called for advancing the polls in Delhi to November, ahead of the scheduled February elections.
