Armenia Joins International Solar Alliance as 104th Member
On November 21, Armenia became the 104th full member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), as announced by Randhir Jaiswal, the Ministry of External Affairs Official Spokesperson. The ISA, established by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and France's President Francois Hollande on November 30, 2015, aims to enhance solar energy use, reduce solar power costs, and promote solar technology and innovation.
During a meeting in New Delhi, Armenia's Ambassador to India, Vahagn Afyan, handed over the Instrument of Ratification to Abhishek Singh, Joint Secretary and Head of Depository. This event marks Armenia's commitment to the ISA's goals of mobilizing over USD 1000 billion by 2030 for solar energy deployment.
Headquartered in India, the ISA unites countries to overcome challenges in technology, finance, and capacity for solar energy expansion. Under India's leadership, the ISA has initiated projects like solarizing Malawi's Parliamentary building and establishing solar-powered facilities in Fiji, Seychelles, and Kiribati. These efforts highlight India's dedication to sustainable energy and global collaboration in combating climate change.
