Vijaywada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 3: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has called on the people of Andhra Pradesh to help manage the flood-like situation in the state. He emphasized the importance of collective effort to bring the situation under control.
Naidu assured that sufficient food and transportation have been provided to ensure everyone in the flood-affected areas receives adequate provisions. He stated, "We have supplied enough food and transportation. Everything is available now. First, I want to reach every person. The second is to provide drinking water. Third, from here I have to work for sanitation and rehabilitation. I will work on all these things systematically. Only the way to educate people continuously is to bring awareness among them."
He urged the public to contribute in any way possible, either by providing direct help or by working on the ground. "I am requesting all people of Andhra Pradesh to come liberally and whatever is possible from your side, either directly provide or you can come and work. All of you have to do that job in Vijayawada also. They have to respond positively," he added.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the central government has provided nearly 30 NDRF teams and six helicopters to assist in the relief efforts. He noted, "He (PM Modi) is very positive. He said he would provide support for everything. The government has sent nearly 30 NDRF teams. 120 motorised boats are working. Even 6 helicopters they have sent. They are extending all the cooperation."
Heavy rainfall has caused significant damage across the state, particularly in Krishna and Guntur districts. Floodwaters have halted traffic on national highways and led to the cancellation of numerous train services. Areas such as Singhnagar and Nandamuri Nagar were submerged, forcing nearly two lakh people to seek shelter on the terraces of their buildings.
The Chief Minister directed officials to prioritize the supply of food and water to flood victims. With his personal intervention, officials distributed food packets late into the night by venturing into flood-affected regions using boats.
