Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the TMC government in West Bengal of “state-sponsored infiltration” and announced the BJP’s goal to form a government in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Speaking at the BJP’s membership drive launch in Kolkata, Shah highlighted the party’s growth and set a target of one crore members. He emphasized the need to stop infiltration and criticized the Mamata government over safety concerns and fund allocations.

During the event, BJP leader Roopa Ganguly mentioned that actor Mithun Chakraborty was honored. BJP leader Dilip Ghosh expressed confidence in reaching the membership target, citing past successes and the party’s growth.

Inauguration of Petrapole Land Port Facilities

Amit Shah also inaugurated the Passenger Terminal building and Maitri Dwar at Petrapole Land Port, a key trade gateway between India and Bangladesh. The Maitri Dwar was established through a bilateral agreement, with its foundation stone laid by Shah in May 2023.
