Amit Shah Congratulates ISRO on Successful Launch of EOS-8 Satellite

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) after the successful launch of the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. He shared his message on the social media platform X, highlighting the satellite’s role in environmental monitoring and disaster management.

Shah also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that the launch is a testament to India’s commitment to humanity. Earlier today, ISRO announced the successful third developmental flight of the SSLV-D3 rocket, which placed EOS-08 precisely into orbit.

The EOS-08 mission aims to design and develop a microsatellite with new technologies for future operational satellites. The satellite carries three payloads: the Electro-Optical Infrared Payload (EOIR), the Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry Payload (GNSS-R), and the SiC UV Dosimeter. These payloads will support various applications, including satellite-based surveillance, disaster monitoring, environmental monitoring, and more.

The satellite will operate in a circular low-earth orbit at an altitude of 475 km for one year. It has a mass of approximately 175.5 kg and generates around 420 W of power. The mission marks a significant advancement in satellite mainframe systems, featuring an integrated avionics system and other key components for on-board technology demonstration.

Doubts Revealed

Amit Shah -: Amit Shah is a senior politician in India and the current Union Home Minister. He is responsible for internal security and law and order in the country.

ISRO -: ISRO stands for Indian Space Research Organisation. It is India’s space agency, responsible for space research and satellite launches.

EOS-8 -: EOS-8 is a type of satellite called Earth Observation Satellite-8. It is used to monitor the Earth’s environment and help in disaster management.

Sriharikota -: Sriharikota is an island in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is home to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, where ISRO launches its rockets.

SSLV-D3 -: SSLV-D3 is a type of rocket called Small Satellite Launch Vehicle-D3. It is used by ISRO to launch small satellites into space.

payloads -: Payloads are the instruments or equipment carried by a satellite. In this case, EOS-8 has three payloads for monitoring and sensing different things on Earth.

environmental monitoring -: Environmental monitoring means keeping an eye on the Earth’s environment, like checking air quality, water levels, and weather patterns.

disaster management -: Disaster management involves planning and responding to natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, and cyclones to reduce their impact.

commercial missions -: Commercial missions are space missions that are done for business purposes, like launching satellites for companies to provide services like communication and weather forecasting.
