Akhilesh Yadav’s Posters in Amethi Challenge BJP Ahead of By-Polls
In Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, posters by Samajwadi Party leaders have appeared, praising their Chief, Akhilesh Yadav, and criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the Assembly by-polls approach. The posters feature slogans like “Akhilesh ji ka fear hai, BJP ka anth near hai” and “Jitna chunav taloge utna bura haroge.”
The Election Commission has postponed the by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Punjab from November 13 to November 20. Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of delaying the elections to prevent people affected by unemployment in Uttar Pradesh from voting. He expressed these views on the social media platform X.
The decision to postpone the by-polls was made after requests from national and state parties, including the Indian National Congress, BJP, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Rashtriya Lok Dal, to avoid low voter turnout due to festivities. The affected constituencies include Palakkad in Kerala; Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, Gidderbaha, Barnala in Punjab; and Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Sishamau, Phulpur, Katehari, and Majhawan in Uttar Pradesh. The counting and completion dates remain November 23 and 25, respectively.
