Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi Criticize BJP Over Alleged Fake Encounters in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 12: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh over alleged fake encounters. In a post on X, he claimed that a pattern of encounters has been established under BJP rule, where individuals are picked, stories of fake encounters are created, and fake pictures are shown to the world. He accused the BJP of pressuring families of the victims to keep quiet.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also condemned the BJP government, citing the encounter of Mangesh Yadav in Sultanpur as evidence that the BJP does not believe in the ‘Rule of Law’. He accused the BJP of running professional forces like the Special Task Force (STF) as ‘criminal gangs’ and questioned the lack of action against officers involved in these encounters.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded to these allegations by defending the police actions. He stated that when a mafia or dacoit is killed in a police encounter, it affects the criminals’ supporters. He claimed that during the Samajwadi Party’s rule, police were chased by goons, but now the roles have reversed.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati criticized both the BJP and the Samajwadi Party, warning people to be cautious of their political drama. She claimed that no fake encounters took place during BSP rule and accused both parties of worsening the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.
