Ajman Boosts Tourism with New Holiday Homes Sector and Diverse Accommodation Options
The Emirate of Ajman has implemented a strategic economic diversification plan, focusing on tourism as a key growth pillar. In 2023, Ajman saw a 29% increase in international visitors compared to 2022, with young and middle-aged travelers making up 70% of the total arrivals. The positive trend continued into 2024, with a 9% growth in tourist arrivals in the first quarter.
Under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ajman offers 52 accommodation options, ranging from luxurious five-star resorts to convenient hotel apartments. To further enhance tourism, Ajman has introduced a new Holiday Homes Sector, allowing real estate owners and hotel management companies to offer short-term rentals. This initiative aims to diversify accommodation options and boost economic growth by creating new jobs and stimulating related sectors.
Ajman’s Department of Tourism Development has established a regulatory framework for the Holiday Homes Sector, ensuring quality and compliance through streamlined electronic registration, rigorous inspections, transparent permit issuance, and strict adherence to regulations.
