Ajinkya Naik Becomes Youngest President of Mumbai Cricket Association

Ajinkya Naik, at the age of 37, has become the youngest president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). He won the election by defeating Sanjay Naik, the candidate supported by Mumbai BJP chief and BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar, by 107 votes.

According to the MCA, a total of 335 votes were cast in the election. Ajinkya Naik received 221 votes, while Sanjay Naik got 114 votes.

The election was held due to the passing of former MCA president Amol Kale, who died at the age of 47 earlier this month in New York. Ajinkya Naik previously served as the secretary of the MCA.

Amol Kale had a successful term as MCA president after being elected in October 2022. During his tenure, the MCA agreed to give a 100% pay raise to its senior men’s cricketers for the 2024-25 season, a decision approved at the MCA’s recent apex council meeting.
