Ajay Ratra Joins BCCI Men’s Selection Committee
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that former Indian cricketer Ajay Ratra will join the Men’s Selection Committee. The committee is headed by Ajit Agarkar, and Ratra will replace Salil Ankola.
About Ajay Ratra
Ajay Ratra, a former wicketkeeper-batter, played six Tests and 12 ODIs for India. He also represented Haryana in over 90 First Class matches, scoring nearly 4000 runs and achieving over 240 dismissals. Ratra has extensive coaching experience, having worked with teams like Assam, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. He was also part of the coaching staff for the Indian team during their ODI series in South Africa in 2023.
Ratra’s Role as a Selector
As a member of the selection committee, Ratra will work with other members to identify and support the next generation of Indian cricketers. His insights will be crucial in ensuring that the best talent is nurtured and given opportunities to excel.
Venue Change for India vs Bangladesh T20I
The BCCI has also announced a change in venue for the first T20I against Bangladesh on October 6. The match will now be held in Gwalior instead of Dharamsala due to renovation work at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s dressing room.
India’s 2024-25 Home Season
India’s 2024-25 home international season will start with two Tests and three T20Is against Bangladesh from September 19 to October 12. This will be followed by three Test matches against New Zealand from October 16 to November 5. India will also play five T20Is and three ODIs against England from January 22 to February 12. These ODIs will be India’s only scheduled 50-over games before the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
