New Delhi, India – The All India Tennis Association (AITA) Secretary General Anil Dhupar announced that the current elected body will continue functioning until October 14. The proposed no-confidence motion against AITA President Anil Jain has been withdrawn.

Eight state tennis associations had initially proposed the motion against Jain. However, during an Extra Ordinary General body meeting, these states withdrew their motion, leading to its cancellation.

Dhupar explained that the next hearing in the Delhi High Court regarding the elections is on October 14. Until then, the current office bearers under Anil Jain’s presidency will continue their duties. The court has directed that the election results will be submitted in a sealed envelope and not announced until reviewed by the court.

The no-confidence motion was initially moved by state tennis associations from Assam, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tripura, and Gujarat. A joint statement from these associations requested the withdrawal of the motion.

The Delhi High Court has issued notices to AITA and the Centre on a petition challenging the upcoming AITA election, claiming violations of the National Sports Code. The petition, filed by tennis players Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja, alleges multiple violations of the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011, and a lack of compliance with previous court directions.

The petitioners argue that these violations undermine the transparency and inclusivity mandated by the Sports Code. They request that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports enforce compliance with the Sports Code before recognizing AITA’s legitimacy and suggest that fresh elections be held in a fair and transparent manner.
