Adani Green Energy and Adani Energy Solutions Join Global Net Zero Alliance

Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL) and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL) have become the first in their respective sectors to join the Utilities for Net Zero Alliance (UNEZA). This international coalition operates under the guidance of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions.

Commitment to Net Zero

Both AGEL and AESL are committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050, aligning with India’s broader energy transition goals. AGEL, India’s largest renewable energy company, aims to deliver 50 GW of renewable energy by 2030, contributing 10% of the nation’s non-fossil fuel energy goal. AESL, the largest private transmission and distribution entity in India, focuses on enhancing grid reliability and reducing direct emissions by 72.7% by 2030.

AGEL’s Ambitious Projects

AGEL is working on the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda, Gujarat, with a 30 GW capacity spread over 538 sq. km, nearly five times the size of Paris. Sagar Adani, Executive Director of AGEL, emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing sustainability goals and accelerating the clean energy transition.

AESL’s Infrastructure Investments

AESL is developing a USD 1 billion high-voltage direct current (HVDC) line to ensure uninterrupted renewable power for Mumbai. Anil Sardana, Managing Director of AESL, highlighted the significance of joining UNEZA to leverage global expertise and share insights on building high-capacity renewable energy networks.

Both companies are part of the diversified Adani portfolio, playing crucial roles in India’s renewable energy and power transmission sectors.
