The Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has announced a new category of commercial motorcycle plates. This initiative supports Abu Dhabi's vision for sustainable development and economic growth. The new plates will be officially available from January 1, 2025.
The new plates will be yellow, symbolizing economic activities, and will help distinguish commercial motorcycles from private ones. This change aims to enhance the efficiency of commercial transport and ensure compliance with standards.
Mohammed Al Braik Al Ameri, Executive Director of the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Sector, stated that the initiative will improve road safety and traffic flow. It will also aid in better database management and classification of motorcycles.
Currently, there are 26,186 commercial motorcycles in Abu Dhabi, which will switch from red to yellow plates. Private motorcycles, totaling 10,579, will retain their red plates. The new plates can be obtained when registering a new motorcycle, transferring ownership, or replacing damaged or lost plates.
Fifteen factories across Abu Dhabi are involved in manufacturing these new plates.
