AAP MP Sanjay Singh Criticizes BJP and Delhi L-G Over Inaction in Doctor Harassment Case

In New Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) VK Saxena of failing to act on a sexual harassment case involving a female doctor. Singh claims that for over a year, the doctor has faced harassment from her Medical Superintendent (MS) without any action taken against him, despite internal investigations confirming the abuse.

Sanjay Singh alleges that the L-G and Health Department officials have ignored the doctor’s complaints, and instead, an investigation was launched against her. He questions whether the L-G’s role is to protect those who exploit women, suggesting that the BJP and Prime Minister Modi have empowered the L-G to shield such individuals.

The AAP MP highlights the mental torture faced by the doctor, who presented evidence to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). By May 2024, her accusations were confirmed, yet no action was taken against the MS. Singh demands accountability from the BJP, PM Modi, and the L-G, questioning if they are waiting for a similar incident to the Kolkata tragedy to occur in Delhi.

In response, the L-G counters Singh’s claims, stating that the AAP is deflecting from other issues. The L-G asserts that the health department proposed the MS’s transfer in November 2023, but the decision has been pending with the National Capital Civil Services Authority (NCCSA) since December 2023. The L-G emphasizes that the NCCSA is responsible for taking action and questions why former CM Arvind Kejriwal and current CM Atishi have not acted.
