New Delhi, India – Shiv Sena UBT leader Aaditya Thackeray raised several questions about the Badlapur sexual assault case on Tuesday. Using the micro-blogging platform X, Thackeray questioned the whereabouts of the trustees of the Badlapur school and why they were being protected by the BJP-Mindhe regime.

Thackeray’s post read, “The real question is: 1) Where are the trustees of the Badlapur school? Why are they being protected by the BJP-Mindhe regime? 2) What about Mindhe’s local chap, Waman Mhatre, who asked a journalist why she was questioning the incident as if she had been raped. Why is he being protected? 3) Will the cases against the citizens who protested be taken back? They were treated like gangsters. They were simply protesting against the refusal of the police to file a complaint from the victim for a week. Who was the police station protecting? It is understood that the trustees of the school have an affiliation with the BJP. And they are being protected. Is it true? Will the regime answer?”

Earlier, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) criticized the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government and the Mahayuti alliance, calling the handling of the case a breakdown of law and justice in the state.

NCP MP Supriya Sule condemned the Mahayuti government, stating, “The Mahayuti government’s approach to the Badlapur sexual assault case of two minor girls is shocking! Delay in the filing of the FIR first, and now the prime accused is killed in custody! This is an absolute breakdown of law enforcement and the justice system. This is inexcusable. It deprives the people of Maharashtra of justice.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also criticized the Mahayuti government, calling it “incompetence” and noting that the co-accused in the case are on the run. She described the situation as a “story written by the state government.”

The BJP responded by accusing the INDIA bloc of being anti-women and supportive of alleged rapists. BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla stated, “Traitors and anti-national elements will naturally find it difficult to support the safety of our nation’s law enforcement agencies. Congress has revealed its true colors–first by defending Pakistan’s role in 26/11 and now by attacking the police. INDI alliance is a Balatkari and Atanki Bachao Jamaat.”
