In the 2018 ISL Final, Chennaiyin FC faced Bengaluru FC and won 3-2, securing their second ISL Cup. Despite an early goal from Sunil Chhetri for Bengaluru, Mailson Alves and Raphael Augusto led Chennaiyin FC to victory.

In the 2019-20 season, under Owen Coyle, Chennaiyin FC defeated Kerala Blasters FC 6-3 in Kochi. Rafael Crivellaro and Nerijus Valskis were key players in this match.

In December 2022, Thomas Brdaric’s Chennaiyin FC recorded a 7-3 victory against NorthEast United FC in Guwahati, with Abdenasser El Khayati scoring a hattrick.

In a crucial match to secure a place in the knockout stages, Chennaiyin FC faced Mohun Bagan Super Giant. Despite an early goal from Joni Kauko for Mohun Bagan, Chennaiyin FC won 3-2 with a last-minute goal from Irfan Yadwad, securing their place in the playoffs.
