Arjun Maini Shines with Double Podium at Red Bull Ring in Austria

Arjun Maini, a driver for Mercedes-AMG Team HRT, had an impressive weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. He secured his first pole position in DTM and finished third in Race 1 on Saturday. In Race 2, starting from eighth place, he made significant progress to finish third again, making him the only driver with a double podium finish.

Reflecting on his performance, Arjun said, “It was a little bit bittersweet to finish third after starting in pole position yesterday but today, I’m very happy with the result. I think we maximized what we could today. I am happy with the amazing car the team gave me this weekend and happy with two podiums.”

During Race 2, Arjun made an early move to jump from eighth to sixth place. He strategically delayed his Mandatory Pit Stop, allowing him to come out ahead of the Championship leader, Mirko. Despite being overtaken by Sheldon and Guven, Arjun managed to reclaim his position and finish third.

Arjun explained, “As soon as I got ahead of Luka, I had good pace and clean air. It takes usually two or three laps on the cold tires here to get them up to speed. So, I knew if I did some good laps when everyone came out, I would have a good chance. The main challenge was to switch on the tyres after coming out of the pits and today we managed that well.”

With three podium finishes this season, Arjun is now eighth in the championship standings with 128 points. He will have a final chance to advance further up the table in Hockenheim, Germany, on October 19 and October 20.
