Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal Announces Removal of AI-Generated Food Images from Menus

New Delhi [India], August 18: Food delivery company Zomato will start removing AI-generated images of dishes from restaurant menus after receiving several customer complaints, CEO Deepinder Goyal announced on Sunday.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Goyal explained that while Zomato uses various forms of AI to enhance efficiency, it will not use AI-generated images for representing dishes in restaurant menus. He stated, ‘AI-generated food/dish images are misleading, and we have received numerous customer complaints on this issue. Customers say that this leads to a breach of trust, higher complaints & refunds, and lower ratings.’

Goyal urged restaurant partners to avoid using AI for dish images and mentioned that Zomato will actively start removing such images by the end of the month. He also requested restaurant owners to contact the company if they haven’t invested in real food shots for their menus.

Meanwhile, on August 16, Zomato’s stock rose by 1.77% or 4.61 points. The company has given a return of 112.65% to investors over the past year, showcasing robust performance. In June, Zomato informed exchanges that it was in talks with Paytm to acquire its movies and events businesses.
