Zimbabwe Announces Squad for T20 Series Against India
Zimbabwe Cricket has revealed its squad for the upcoming T20 series against India, the reigning T20 World Cup 2024 champions. The series will feature five matches, starting on July 6 at Harare Sports Club.
Young Squad with Potential
Zimbabwe has named a young squad with an average age of 27. The team includes Belgian-born Antum Naqvi, whose participation is subject to citizenship confirmation. Naqvi has shown impressive performance in domestic cricket, with a strike rate of 146.80 in T20s and an average of 72.00 in first-class cricket.
Experienced Players
Sikandar Raza, aged 38, will lead the team. He is the most experienced player with 86 T20I matches. Other key players include Luke Jongwe, Richard Ngarava, and Blessing Muzarabani.
Returning Players
The squad also sees the return of Tendai Chatara, Wessly Madhevere, and Brandon Mavuta. Madhevere and Mavuta are back after serving four-month suspensions for recreational drug use.
Notable Absentees
Craig Ervine and Sean Williams were not considered for selection, while Ryan Burl, Joylord Gumbie, and Ainsley Ndlovu did not make the cut.
Match Schedule
The first match will be played on July 6, followed by the second match on July 7, both at Harare Sports Club. The final match will take place on July 14 at the same venue.
