Yuvraj Singh’s Legal Battle Over Flat Purchase and Personality Rights
New Delhi, August 5: Cricketer Yuvraj Singh has taken legal action against Brilliant Etoile Private Limited, alleging a violation of personality rights and issues related to a flat purchase agreement. The Delhi High Court has appointed an arbitrator to resolve the dispute.
Background
Yuvraj Singh moved to the High Court seeking the appointment of an arbitrator to address the conflict with the builder. Justice C Hari Shankar referred the matter to the Delhi International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) after hearing submissions from both parties.
The Dispute
The conflict arises from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dated November 24, 2020, for the promotion and marketing of a real estate project named ‘Sky Mansion’ in New Delhi. Yuvraj Singh was promised benefits against the purchase of an apartment, which he booked in December 2020. However, the possession was delayed, and the apartment did not match the sample shown.
Legal Actions
Yuvraj Singh sent multiple legal notices to the builder, seeking damages and improved quality of the apartment. The builder responded by terminating the agreement and refusing arbitration. Yuvraj Singh now seeks a refund with interest and the appointment of a sole arbitrator to resolve the issues.
