New Delhi, India – Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has shared his thoughts on Australian cricketer David Warner’s retirement from international cricket. Warner, 37, has decided to retire after Australia was knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024.

In his last match, Warner scored six runs from six balls in the Super Eights match against India. Yuvraj Singh took to his official X account to congratulate Warner on his ‘incredible career’ and to wish him well in his retirement. Yuvraj mentioned that it was a pleasure to share the dressing room with Warner during their time playing for the Hyderabad-based franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

David Warner has had an illustrious career. In 112 Test matches for Australia, he scored 8,786 runs with an average of 44.59, including 26 centuries and 37 fifties. His highest score in Tests is 335*. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Warner played 161 matches, scoring 6,932 runs at an average of 45.30 and a strike rate of over 97, with 22 centuries and 33 fifties. His best score in ODIs is 179. Warner is also Australia’s highest run-getter in T20 Internationals (T20Is), with 3,277 runs in 110 matches at an average of 33.43 and a strike rate of 142.47, including one century and 28 fifties.

Overall, Warner retires with 18,995 runs in 383 games, 49 centuries, 98 fifties, two ICC Cricket World Cup titles, one ICC T20 World Cup title, and one ICC World Test Championship title. He is considered one of the greatest all-format openers of all time.
