YSRCP former MLA Pinneli Ramakrishna Reddy was released from Nellore prison on Saturday after being granted bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. He was arrested for destroying Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and attacking police during the recent Andhra Pradesh elections.

Criticism of the Government

Former YSRCP Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy criticized the Telugu Desham Party-led government and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly filing false cases against Ramakrishna Reddy and others who criticize them. Govardhan Reddy stated, “He (Ramakrishna Reddy) is a people’s leader who had won four times from Macharla, and putting him in jail is atrocious.”

Govardhan Reddy further accused Naidu of intimidating critics by filing cases against them and warned of severe consequences if such actions continue. He also criticized Naidu for failing to fulfill his promise of good governance within 100 days.

Legal Proceedings

Ramakrishna Reddy was arrested for the destruction of EVMs and an attack on police at a polling center in the Macharla constituency of Palnadu district. The actions were allegedly caught on a web camera, leading to an investigation by the Election Commission of India and his subsequent arrest. He was granted conditional bail on August 23.
