YSR Congress Party’s Office Demolished in Guntur Amid Controversy

An under-construction central office building of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in the Tadepalli area of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, was demolished by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) early on Saturday.

The authorities claimed the building was on land acquired illegally. However, the YSRCP accused the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of ‘vendetta politics’ and stated that the demolition defied a High Court order to halt such actions.

According to the YSRCP, the High Court had ordered a stop to any demolition activity, and this order was communicated to the CRDA Commissioner by the party’s lawyer. Despite this, the demolition proceeded around 5:30 am using excavators and bulldozers, which the YSRCP claims is a contempt of court.

The YSRCP, led by Jagan Mohan Reddy until last month, lost power after the recent Assembly elections. The Telugu Desam Party, led by Chandrababu Naidu, won the elections, and Naidu took oath as Chief Minister for the fourth time.
