YS Sharmila Demands CBI Inquiry into Tirupati Laddoo Controversy
Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into allegations made by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu claimed that the previous YSRCP government used substandard ingredients and animal fat in making the Tirupati laddoo, a sacred sweet.

Sharmila emphasized that this issue is deeply connected to the sentiments and faith of millions of people across India and even internationally. She stated, “This relates to the sentiment, emotions, and faith of crores of people, not only in Andhra Pradesh but also all over the country and even internationally.”
Allegations and Reactions
Naidu presented a report indicating that a sample taken on the day he assumed power showed the presence of beef tallow and fish oil in the laddoo ingredients. Sharmila criticized Naidu for treating the issue casually and reiterated the need for a CBI inquiry.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh shared a video clip showing Naidu’s claims and expressed his shock. He said, “The Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Tirumala is our most sacred temple. I am shocked to learn that the YS Jagan administration used animal fat instead of ghee in the Tirupati Prasadam.”
Denial from YSRCP
YSRCP leader YV Subbareddy denied the allegations, stating that only organic ingredients, including ghee, were used in the preparation of the Prasadam. He called the allegations vile and misleading.
