YouTube’s New Features: Adjustable Playback Speed and Sleep Timer for All

YouTube’s Exciting New Updates

YouTube has announced several new features to improve user experience, based on feedback from its users. One of the key updates is the ability to adjust playback speed in smaller increments of 0.05, offering more control than the previous 0.25 increments. Users can still watch videos at speeds up to 2x.

Another significant change is the expansion of the sleep timer feature, which was previously only available to Premium subscribers. Now, all users can set the timer to stop playback after 10, 15, 20, 30, or 45 minutes, or even after one hour. Users can also choose to end playback when the current video finishes.

YouTube is also enhancing the experience for iOS users by improving landscape mode browsing, which will be available later this year. The in-app mini-player has been updated to be resizable and movable, making navigation easier.

Additionally, users can now create collaborative playlists and customize thumbnails using personal photos or AI tools. YouTube will also introduce voting on videos within playlists and badges in the YouTube and YouTube Music apps to recognize achievements.

For TV users, YouTube is adding a more cinematic feel with visual enhancements like new pops of pink. When visiting a channel page on smart TVs, videos will automatically play as teasers, allowing viewers to preview content instantly.
